Dog falls 14-stories right into man’s arms

A little dog is very lucky to be alive after plunging 14-stories from a balcony – and right into the arms of Ted Nelson, a man who lives across the street from the high-rise apartment building.

“I just looked out my window at my apartment at the apartment across the street. There was a dog that had ended up climbing through the railing on its balcony and it was perched on this little ledge,” Portland resident, Ted Nelson explained to KGW News.

Mordy, a 5-year old Bichon Frise, looked distressed. Worried that the dog was about to fall, Nelson sprung into action, running outside, across the street, and right below where Mordy was perched on the ledge – just in the nick of time. The dog slipped.

“I just looked up at it and it was looking at me and it landed right in my chest… caught it for a minute, kind of fell, it did hit the ground. It let out a yelp but it was a huge relief to hear it yelp,” he continued.

Nelson and his girlfriend rushed Mordy to an emergency veterinarian and amazingly, aside from a few bruises, Mordy is doing just fine.

Astoundingly, this isn’t the first time Nelson has come to the rescue of an animal in that same apartment building. About a year ago, he saw a cat about to fall from a different balcony.

Fortunately, the owner was home and Nelson yelled to them to grab their cat.
